Paolo Gioli: The Complete Filmworks (DVD)
Directed by Paolo Giolo
Born in 1942 near Venice, Italy, Paolo Gioli is one of Europes most important experimental filmmakers working today. Containing Gioli Complete Works, this box-set presents 38 remarkable films made between 1969 and 2013, expressing Giolis playfully deconstructive attitude towards motion picture technology, as seen in his early hand-painted films, his unusual manipulations of camera mechanisms and optics, and his unique interest in homemade movie cameras and pin-hole cinematography. The enclosed booklet contains essays by David Bordwell, Giacomo Daniele Fragapane, and Patrick A. Rumble, as well as Film Notes by Gioli himself.
DVD Extras Include:
Film Liberi in Liberta Free Films Made Freely by Patrick A. Rumble, Rosso di Land/Lands Red by Paolo Vampa and Giovanni Cappello
