Kino International Corporation ("Kino") is committed to respecting your privacy and recognizing your need for appropriate protection and management of personal information you share with us (the phrase "personal information" means any information by which you can be identified, such as your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, etc. as well as any credit card number you may provide to us to process your online purchase). The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you what personal information we may collect from you, how we use such information, and the choices you have regarding our use of, and your ability to review and correct, the information. This policy applies only to customers in the United States and Canada.

As a part of our commitment to your privacy Kino agrees to (1) provide customers with notice of their ability to opt out of information rental, sale or exchange with other marketers; (2) honor customers' requests not to share their information with other marketers; and (3) honor customers' requests not to receive mail, telephone or other solicitations from Kino.

Collecting Information About You

There may be times (such as when you purchase a product, subscribe to a service, register to receive catalogs, or to participate in contests, sweepstakes or promotions, etc.) when we ask you to provide certain information about yourself, such as your name, shipping/billing address, telephone number, email address, credit card information, birth date, gender, occupation, personal interests, etc. We may also maintain a record of your product purchases.

Whether or not to provide such information is completely your own choice. But if you choose not to provide the information we request, you may be unable to purchase products, or access certain services, offers and content on our web site. In addition, we may need to contact you via phone, email or mail to address questions or issues specific to your order, entry, etc., even if you have opted not to receive communications from us. If you do choose to provide us with your contact information, we may use it to send you catalogs, promotions, and other information, although you are free, at any time, to opt-out of receiving such information by sending an email to us. If your name and contact information were volunteered to us by someone else, then you may also receive catalogs, promotions, and other information until you send us an opt-out email.

In general, you can visit many of our web pages without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. We may track the Internet domain address from which people visit us and analyze this data for trends and statistics, but individual users will remain anonymous, unless you voluntarily tell us who you are.

Using Information About You

We use the personal information you provide for internal purposes, such as confirming and tracking your order, subscription or registration, analyzing trends and statistics, informing you of our new products, services and offers, and providing you with information from and about Kino. From time to time we might establish a business relationship with other persons or entities whom we believe trustworthy and whom we have asked to confirm that their privacy policies are consistent with ours. These are known as our "Select Partners." In such cases we might share and cross-reference information, including personal information about you that will enable such persons or entities to contact you regarding products and services that may be of interest to you.

We may contract with companies or persons to provide certain services including credit card processing, shipping, data management, promotional services, etc. We call them our Service Providers. We provide our Service Providers with the information needed for them to perform these services. We also ask our Service Providers to confirm that their privacy practices are consistent with ours.

Editing, Updating, Correcting and Deleting Information About You

We want to communicate with you only if you want to hear from us. If you prefer not to receive information from Kino and/or from any of our Select Partners please let us know by calling us at 212-629-6880, by sending us an email to [email protected] or by clicking here. Cookies

Our web sites use "cookies." A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Generally, we use cookies to remind us of who you are, tailor our products and services to suit your personal interests, estimate our audience size, to track visits to and sales at our sites and to process your order, track your status in our promotions, contests and sweepstakes, and/or analyze your visiting patterns. You can generally set your browser to not accept cookies or to notify you when you are sent a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it.

We may contract with third parties who may use cookies and collect information on our behalf. These third parties are prohibited by our contract with them from sharing that information with anyone other than us or our Service Providers.

The process of purchasing a product or service from us requires you to add items to your cart and then confirm your selection at check out. We will then ask you to complete an order form that requests personal information from you, including your contact information (such as your name, and your email as well as your financial information (such as your credit card type, credit card number, expiration date, and credit card verification value code or "CVV"). During check out, we will may also analyze your purchasing history and account status to determine whether you qualify for any free items, discounts, or coupons that we may choose to offer to qualifying customers.

We use persistent cookies to identify returning customers. A persistent cookie (also known as a "permanent" or "stored cookie") remains on your hard drive until the cookie's pre-set expiration time is reached or until you delete the cookie. Persistent cookies are used to collect identifying information about the user, such as Web surfing behavior or user preferences for a specific web site. You can remove persistent cookies by following the directions provided in your Internet browser's "help" file but this action will affect your user experience on successive visits to our web site.

Because we use a persistent cookie to store your User ID, you do not have to enter your User ID each time you wish to log in to the web site from the same computer. The User ID is encrypted and cannot by itself be used to log in to your Kino account, so use of a persistent cookie for this purpose is secure. Nevertheless, we use a persistent cookie in this way if, and only if, you check the "Remember My User ID" checkbox.

When you click the "Add to Cart" link in order to purchase something from our web site, we use a persistent cookie to store the items that you added to your shopping cart. We also use a different persistent cookie to identify unique visitors to our site for aggregate statistical purposes only.

Security

We take precautions, including use of sophisticated encryption and authentication tools, to protect the security of your personal information that you share with us. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from our web sites, and you do so at your own risk. If you have any questions about security on our web site, please contact us through our web site.

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information to receive our announcements or catalog, to contact us through our web site, or to log in, we encrypt that information using Secure Socket Layer technology (SSL). This technology secures our web site by encrypting the data that is exchanged between your browser and our web server.

Our web site uses an SSL certificate from Thawte a trusted third-party certification authority. This authority issues SSL certificates only for a particular server in a specific domain for a verified business entity. This way, you can be sure that our web site is operated by the business (Kino International) that claims to operate it. An SSL certificate consists of a public and private key, both of which are used for data encryption and decryption. When a browser points to a secured web page, an SSL handshake takes place between the end-user's browser, the authenticated web server, and the certification authority. Once a secured session is established (as indicated by the https:// appearing in the browser's URL field) both the end-user's browser and the authenticated web server can guarantee the privacy and the integrity of the data being exchanged.

We urge you to keep your passwords in a safe place and not to divulge it to anyone. Also remember to log off your account and close your browser window when you have finished your visit. This is to ensure that others cannot access your account, especially if you are sharing a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place such as a library or Internet cafe. If you suspect that your password or other personal information has been comprised, you should notify us immediately.

Links to Third Party Web Sites

Our web sites may contain links to web sites operated and maintained by third parties, over which we have no control. Privacy policies on such linked sites may be different from our privacy policy. You access such linked sites at your own risk. You should always read the privacy policy of a linked site before disclosing any personal information on such site.

Log Files

As is the case with the vast majority of websites, our web site automatically collects certain information about your computer system and stores this data in its log files. This information includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, Internet Service Provider (or ISP), the web site you came from before you arrived at our web site, the last page you visited on our web site before moving to another web site, the date and time you entered our web site, and your click pass (i.e., the sequence of pages and activities that you choose when moving through our web site).

We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, administer the web site, prevent misuse of the web site, gather demographic data about our user base as a whole, and track users' movement around the web site both to determine which areas are of greatest interest and to help us design a more intuitive website for our users.

We do not associate this automatically-collected data (including the collected IP addresses) with any personally identifiable information.

We may use a third-party tracking service that uses cookies and/or log files to track non-personally identifiable information to help us develop more effective marketing campaigns. The information collected by such a third-party tracking service would include aggregate usage and volume statistics regarding the visitors to our web site.

Policy Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy in whole or in part, we will inform you by posting a notice on our web site. Those changes will go into effect on the date posted in the notice. The new policy will apply to all current and past users of our web site and will replace any prior policies that are inconsistent. This policy was posted on May 3, 2007.
