Blackmail (1929)
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Alice is the daughter of a shopkeeper in London. Her boyfriend, Frank, is a Scotland Yard detective who seems more interested in police work than in her. On their date night, Alice secretly arranges to meet another man. When her secret date tries to force himself on her, she kills him in self-defense with a bread knife. When Frank is assigned to the murder case, he quickly determines that Alice is the killer – but so has someone else, and threatens Alice with blackmail.
