Kino Lorber Studio Classics Releases Those Redheads from Seattle on 3-D Blu-ray

New York, NY -- May 17, 2017 -- Kino Lorber Studio Classics is proud to announce the release of the 1953 3-D Technicolor musical Those Redheads From Seattle, starring Rhonda Fleming, Gene Barry, Agnes Moorehead, and The Bell Sisters, in a new restoration by the 3-D Film Archive.

Those Redheads from Seattle is historically significant as the first 3-D musical, and the first 3-D film composed for widescreen released by Paramount Pictures, and is presented here in restored three-channel stereophonic sound and for the first time in more than sixty years, 1.66:1 widescreen. Directed by long-time Hollywood veteran Lewis R. Foster and photographed by Academy Award®-winning cinematographer Lionel Lindon, this wonderful and colorful musical has been newly restored in HD and 3-D from 2K scans by the 3-D Film Archive.

This new restoration had its premiere at the 2017 TCM Classic Film Festival, and will become available on DVD and 3-D Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics on May 23, 2017. The SRP for the Blu-ray is $34.95, and the SRP for the DVD is $19.95. Special features include audio commentary by film historians Hillary Hess, Greg Kintz, Jack Theakston and Bob Furmanek (founder of the 3-D Film Archive), a 2006 interview with Rhonda Fleming, a before & after restoration demo, restored three-channel stereophonic sound, the original 1953 mono sound, a stereophonic sound demonstration, and the original theatrical trailer.

A married woman (Agnes Moorehead) takes her four unmarried redheaded daughters (Rhonda Fleming, Teresa Brewer, Cynthia and Kay Bell of The Bell Sisters) to Alaska during the 1898 Gold Rush so they could help their father run his newspaper, and upon arriving in Yukon they find out their father was murdered. The four heroines get work at the saloon owned by Johnny Kisco (Gene Barry). Kathie Edmonds (Fleming) searches for her father's murderer, who may or may not be Kisco.
