Kino Lorber Releases Rabin, The Last Day on Blu-ray & DVD

New York, NY -- May 23, 2016 -- Kino Lorber is proud to announce the Blu-ray and DVD release of RABIN, THE LAST DAY, the latest film from award-winning Israeli director Amos Gitai (Kippur, Yom Yom). Delving deep into the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, Gitai paints an unflinching portrait of his home country, managing to blend the tension of a political thriller with a documentary feel by integrating archival footage to the narrative.

RABIN, THE LAST DAY was released theatrically by Kino Lorber earlier this year, opening at New York's Lincoln Plaza Cinema in January before moving on to engagements in key national markets including Los Angeles, Miami, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and Washington DC, among others. The film was an Official Selection of the Toronto International Film Festival, won the Golden Mouse and Human Rights Nights Awards at the Venice Film Festival, and also won the Special Jury Award at the Seville European Film Festival.

On the evening of Saturday, November 4th, 1995, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated with three bullets at the end of a political rally in the center of Tel-Aviv. His killer, apprehended at the scene, was a 25-year-old student (and observant Jew). The following investigation reveals a frightening world that made this killing possible: a subculture of hate fueled by hysterical rhetoric, paranoia and political intrigue.

In RABIN, THE LAST DAY, acclaimed filmmaker Amos Gitai (Kadosh) masterfully combines staged re-enactments with actual news footage of the shooting (and its aftermath) to create a thought-provoking political thriller with ongoing relevance today.
