Former Starz and AOL Exec Will Spearhead the Company’s Expansion in Digital and Strategize for Growth Built on Its Curated Library of Over 4,000 Titles

New York, NY – January 10, 2022 – Kino Lorber announced today that Martha Benyam has joined the film distribution company as its new Chief Operating Officer. She will spearhead Kino Lorber’s continued push into digital, building on the company’s recent successes with the launch of its AVOD channel Kino Cult, TVOD platform Kino Now, and industry-first virtual cinema initiative Kino Marquee, which won the company a special award from the New York Film Critics Circle in 2020. Benyam will also strategize exploitation of Kino Lorber’s curated library of over 4,000 titles and oversee operations company-wide for the distributor, which is known for its award-winning art house theatrical releases and gold standard home video distribution. She will report to Kino Lorber President & CEO Richard Lorber.
 
Benyam has worked as an executive in the film, television, and digital media spaces for over 15 years. Most recently she served as a consultant to various digital media startups, where she launched Amazon video channels and led programming strategy, content acquisitions, and business development initiatives. She previously served as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at Starz, where she worked with the senior executive team on a wide range of programming and international business development initiatives, including scaling original programming and launching StarzPlay Arabia. Before that Benyam worked at AOL, where she held various roles leading content acquisition and distribution deal teams, supporting original productions, and working with the senior executive team on programming strategy and new ventures. Benyam holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business and a B.A. from Brown University.
