After the separation of her parents, Caro, age 8, moves in with her mother and stepfather, Felipe. Although her mother makes it clear that Caro will not see her father ever again, Caro wants nothing more than to be with him. Given this emotional abandonment, Caro seeks refuge in a water well in the backyard of her house, a secret place that inspires her imagination. As she distances herself from her mother, Caro discovers a secret about her father that will change her life forever.
