And Now, Miguel

Directed by Joseph Krumgold

Release: 1953
Runtime: 62
Country: U.S.
Language: English
Director: Joseph Krumgold

At 12 years old and living in arid New Mexico, Miguel Chavez dreams of visiting the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and made it his mission to work hard and pray until his father lets him take the trip with the rest of the shepherds. When his older brother is drafted, Miguel's dream comes true, and his father grudgingly allows Miguel to accompany them up the trail. Directed by Oscar winner Joseph Krumgold for a commission from the U.S. Department of State, this underapprciated documentary from another time remains a worthy installment in Latinx historical studies.
