Notes on Blindness
Directed by Peter Middleton, James Spinney
In 1983, after decades of steady deterioration, writer and theologian John Hull became totally blind. To help him make sense of the upheaval in his life, he began documenting his experiences on audio cassette. Drawing on John's original recordings, Notes on Blindness premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival. It's an ambitious and groundbreaking work, both affecting and innovative - and one of the most essential British documentaries of the year.
